Atlas Group takeover of Worcester Warriors completed

The group, led by former club chief executive Jim O’Toole, had been given until 2 May by administrators Begbies Traynor to get the deal done after agreeing to buy the club in February and, although the deadline passed without the deal being confirmed, the deal – according to

– has been officially finalised.

Since being appointed, Atlas Worcester Warriors – set up by O’Toole and Atlas SportsTech founder James Sandford – it’s withdrawn its application to play in next season’s Championship Rugby, with there being talk it would look to merge with the first team of local tier-five side Stourbridge, although nothing official has been announced.

Atlas has, however, been warned any move to “buy their way” back higher up the league – rather than start at the bottom in tier 10, would not be allowed.

The completion of the sale should also confirm previously agreed deals for non-league side Worcester Raiders and Worcester Warriors women to play at Sixways, while a deal for Wasps to play their home games at the group additionally can now move forward.
