Alvarez & Marsal were appointed administrators of the divisions – namely Babylon Group Holdings and one of its subsidiaries Babylon Partners. In addition to this, some of the online healthcare business’s assets were sold to eMed Healthcare.
Administrators Mark Firmin and Andrea Jakes said the move had “secured the future of the Babylon UK operations, which provides technology-driven preventative healthcare services, alongside other traditional healthcare activities”.
This announcement comes just months after a merger between Babylon, which was founded by British-Iranian entrepreneur Ali Parsa in 2013 and allows private patients and large corporations to speak with physicians online, and Swiss business MindMaze collapsed.
