In her role, she will work with R3’s chief executive and senior management team to help shape and deliver its strategy for the next 12 months, as well as supporting its day-to-day operations.
It comes amid a challenging economic period where both businesses and individuals are facing difficult choices in response to rising costs. As president, her key priorities will be ensuring businesses and individuals understand the role and value of the work of the profession.
Fisher said: “The reviews of the regulatory and personal insolvency frameworks will be the two key policy issues for the next two years and will have a serious effect on how the profession supports people and businesses in the medium and long-term future.
“I’m determined R3 will continue to ensure the profession’s views, concerns and insights are heard on these issues and others, that it continues to help directors and consumers understand the value of early advice and engagement with the profession, and that it continues its efforts to make the profession’s talent pool as broad and deep as possible.”
R3 chief executive Caroline Sumner added: “Nicky has been a pillar of R3 and its smaller practices group community for many years, and this, coupled with her extensive experience in the profession, will be a real asset to her and to us during her presidency.
“I’m looking forward to working with her to ensure we continue to deliver maximum value for our members, that the value the profession delivers to society and the economy is as widely recognised as possible, and that we continue to support the profession’s efforts to attract, develop and retain talented people from all walks of life.”
