It’s, however, still awaiting the final sign-off of the heads of term on the agreement of the sale. In the meantime, the club has said it’s been working closely with the interested party on the immediate deposit of significant funds to allow the fixtures to go ahead over the weekend.
Following this statement, these fixtures were thrown into doubt after the Rugby Football Union warned Worcester Warriors would be suspended from all competitions if it couldn’t prove it can safely host games at its home ground Sixways.
It has been given a deadline of midday today (Friday 16 September) to prove that the local authority has issued it with a General Safety Certificate, and written confirmation of medical provision. It has since been given permission to play this weekend.
This all comes in the same week that a letter circulated by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) suggested the club’s owners had placed the club into administration. Responding to the statement, the club said that this was not the case - with DCMS apologising for its mistake.
