This news comes just days after the vegan food company made most of its staff redundant. It had seen sales grow over recent years, but it failed to turn a profit – with its 2021 results showing that while revenues almost doubled from £7.5m to £12.5m, losses increased from £15.4m to £23.5m.
Backers are expected to lose millions because of the failure, which raised about £40m since being founded in 2016, with the firm having racked up almost £50m in operating losses in the past three years – while its revenues fell from £12.5m to £11.2m between 2021 and 2022.
