EY-Parthenon, The Insolvency Service and Kirkland & Ellis were among some of the big winners at last night’s (9 December) TRI Awards, sponsored by CAPA.

Back for its 14th edition, the event took place for the first time in person for more than a year. It provided the industry with a unique opportunity to reflect on the challenges faced, customers supported and opportunities seized in the turnaround, restructuring and insolvency community.

Attendees were entertained by Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay, a regular performer at the Edinburgh Fringe who has appeared on Have I Got New For You and the Newsquiz. He presented the event alongside Credit Strategy chief executive Luke Broadhurst.
Across the 24-strong awards programme, the big winner was EY-Parthenon, which took home three awards - these being Corporate Restructuring Firm of the Year - 11 or more licensed appointment-taking Insolvency Practitioners, TRI Company Award for Business Continuity and TRI Company Award for Diversity and Inclusion.
Kirkland & Ellis’ rescue of Pizza Express won Corporate Rescue of the Year (Large), while StepChange Debt Charity achieved Personal Debt Solution Provider of the Year. Turnaround Firm of the Year went to Kroll and Kirkland & Ellis won International Firm of the Year.
The Rising Star Award went to Grant Thornton UK’s Georgia Berine and Insolvency Team of the Year went to The Insolvency Service Policy and Analysis Team.
The Sabin Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry, meanwhile, went to Richard Long, who has been involved in the insolvency industry since 1972 when he joined Leonard Curtis & Co to train in insolvency. He has also served on several committees for the Insolvency Practitioners Association, and led the organisation as president in 2003-4.
The TRI Awards, also sponsored by Gordon Brothers, Howard Kennedy, Smith & Williamson, Nexia International and Menzies, raised money for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
